EPILEPSY AWARENESS APPAREL

***This page has been created for fundraising purposes in support of Project T.E.E.N. (Teens Experiencing Epilepsy Now). All proceeds from the sale of merchandise on this page go directly toward creating and delivering care packages for teens undergoing EEG monitoring, helping bring comfort and a sense of normalcy during their hospital stays. ***

My Story

In third grade, I was diagnosed with epilepsy. After being diagnosed, I was in and out of hospitals constantly getting EEGs while they tried to figure out the cause of my seizures. The EEGs would span from 48 hours to me being hospitalized for an entire week. When I was younger, I wasn't too bothered by this. There was always kid activities to keep me occupied. As I grew older, not being able to keep personal hygiene like I normally did started to bother me. My face would break out when I was in the hospital because of the EEG glue and not being able to shower. My experiences left me always feeling dirty and uncomfortable. My junior year of high school I started Club Purple, an epilepsy awareness club. I started to make care packages for patients and other service projects to raise awareness. Near the end of the year, I had the idea for my hygiene packages and I have been working to make it happen since then. My hope for this project is that I make teenage patients feel comfortable during their hospital experiences.

Fund A Care Package

This project will give teenagers on the neurological floor of hospitals access to hygiene products that aren’t usually provided for them.

I started this project because during an EEG hospital stay, you have electrodes attached to your head, making it so you are confined to your bed. You are not able to take a shower or perform other hygiene tasks.

My project raises awareness for this, as well as puts together care packages that give teens access to keep themselves clean and comfortable while staying in their hospital beds.
